Playhouse Square Partners
The goal and primary focus of Playhouse Square Partners is to promote and encourage the awareness, education and participation, both as volunteers and patrons, of Cleveland's community of young professionals in Playhouse Square Center, its theaters and events.
In September 1991, nine enthusiastic individuals helped launch Playhouse Square Partners, a volunteer organization designed to benefit Playhouse Square Center and its historic theaters. Today the group boasts over 400 members and contributes a significant amount to the annual goals of Playhouse Square Foundation each year. From the beginning, the goal of Playhouse Square Partners has remained the same: to promote and encourage the awareness, education and participation of Cleveland's community of young professionals, as volunteers and patrons, in support of Playhouse Square Center, its theaters and events.
Playhouse Square Partners have engaged themselves in special projects over their 12 year history. With the completion of Partners Promenade, a personalized brick walkway that lines the entranceway to the theaters, Partners raised over $50,000 towards the Allen Theatre renovation. Partners host an annual black tie fundraiser, the Jump Back Ball, collectively raising $1 million. Partners also work in conjunction with Playhouse Square Foundation's Education Department to create and participate in activities scheduled around children's performances. Plus, the Partners Education Fund In Memory of Jackie Johnson has been established to provide educational opportunities for students in the Cleveland Public Schools.
Today, the Partners organization acts as a catalyst to bring young professionals together at Playhouse Square. As Partners turns 13 this year, the group continues to celebrate its irreverent spirit by involving Clevelanders who are ready to play, work and make a difference in our community and its theatre district.
